Student summer activities in London 2022

It’s almost Summer in London! It’s something the whole country looks forward to, with its slightly more predictable British weather, longer days, intermittent sunny spells and lots of new outdoor activities available.

As a student here in the city, there’s no end of activities you can get up to. Every month there’s something different to look forward to. Here are a few of our favourite summery suggestions for students who find themselves in London this summer!

May

This month is technically pre-summer, but you’ll already be able to see the weather improving! So we’ve included it in our summer list. First on our list of must-dos this summer? Head to Chelsea Flower Show! Hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society, the show is renowned worldwide for bringing together the best landscape designers and epic garden installations. There’s ALWAYS something interesting, whether it’s conceptual, attention to detail, a wildcard or simply the beauty of the execution. This year the show is running from 24th — 28th May and you can book your tickets through one of the show’s many ticket partners.

June

Why not take a walk around Hyde Park before the big summer rumpus begins? June in London brings with it at least a few lovely days, and Hyde Park is the perfect spot for a picnic, feeding the ducks and heading out into a lake on a pedalo. Make the most of your time there and plan a simple and relaxing itinerary — if you’re lucky, you may even be able to fit in a spot of sunbathing!

July

Catch a show at the open-air theatre in Regent’s Park. It’s famed for being one of the largest theatres in London and was founded all the way back in 1932! The theatre sits in a beautiful park setting and has won many awards over its time. This summer, the performances include Legally Blonde from 13th May — 2nd July, and 101 Dalmations from 12th July — 28th August. Book your tickets on their website here.

August

Festival season! There are plenty of music festivals being hosted across London in August. There really is something for everyone. The below are some of the more prominent and well-known festivals — with a bit of digging, there’ll be plenty of smaller, boutique and indie festivals too!

When out in London this summer, remember to make the most of it. It won’t be long until the weather changes again, and we have to huddle back up in our coats and scarves. Enjoy, and remember to take an umbrella and jacket with you — good weather is never a given here in the UK!
