Student Interview: Maziah

We sat down with one of our current students, Maziah from Malaysia, to see how she finds Beaumont House.

What are you studying and where?

I’m currently studying cardiovascular research at Imperial College, London. I’ve been living at Beaumont House for over a year now.

Does London live up to your expectations?

I’d been to London before choosing to study here, but enjoy that there’s always something to do and am really enjoying my education too.

What’s your favourite thing to do in London when you have some spare time?

As my studies are quite demanding, I don’t go out a lot. But I think that hanging out at home with my friends and chilling out is really fun. I also like to go see movies with my friends when I have some spare time.

Did you find it difficult settling into a new house in a new country?

I don’t find it too difficult to make myself at home, but having people from my own country in Beaumont House with me really helped. I settled in quickly.

What’s your favourite thing about living at Beaumont House?

Beaumont House is a great location for getting to Imperial College, and it’s really near to halal food stores too. I enjoy having a large common room to spend time with my friends in, a large kitchen where I can cook my own meals, and having friendly staff around us all the time.

What’s your number one tip for students moving to London?

I would say it’s important to do your research about accommodation before moving here. Some of it can be expensive, but Beaumont House is a great price.
